Spring Term Objectives from current year group

The Deputy Head Teacher and English lead used the schools Pupil Assessment Grid’s (PAGs) to identify which objectives had been missed or would need to be recapped from when the school went into lockdown.

Teachers have continually assessed throughout their teaching by using our PAGs and will summatively assess at the end of chunk 1 against Summer Term learning.  To address the impact the pandemic has had on our children we started the school year using two key texts in English to address this.  ‘A New Kind of Normal’ which was a poetry unit which was followed by a CLPE unit of planning around the text ‘Here We Are’ by Oliver Jeffers.

    Maths

We are using the White Rose Maths catch-up resources when teaching maths which link directly with Power Maths.  These have catch-up lessons fed-in throughout the year which link to their current strand of learning and have resources provided to support teachers.  White Rose Maths have planned out a year’s overview, following the DFE guidance, to ensure children have enough time to catch up on previous learning whilst covering the learning from their current year group. Again teachers have used the PAGs to do continual formative assessment and will complete Autumn Term summative assessments.

    Foundation

Teachers will use our curriculum maps and the SOLO Taxonomy approach we use to teaching to recap any missed learning as they teach the curriculum of the current year group.  This will allow children to make links back to previous year groups as they approach new subjects in Foundation
